Public Announcement from Reverend Hale!
Citizens of Salem! All gather around! This witch hunt must come to an end. The accusations and lies and manipulation must stop. Fear has struck upon this town and has altered our state of mind. Rather than genuine consideration for our peers, we prioritize our own holy nature. But, what does a true holy individual look like? Going to church and praying daily is not a child of God's only duty. Loving, caring, and being a good friend has equal importance. "Now, in God's holy name- /... and to His glory" remember that we are all called to serve together (Milller 1. 969-971). We are meant to unite and spread His love and compassion, not blame innocent slaves and have affairs with other woman's husbands! "Open yourself and / let God's holy light shine on you" and remember what true love is (1. 973-974).
Love always,
Reverend Hale
Love and compassion is an essential nature to all religions, cultures, and societies. Yet, somehow, its presence has greatly declined in today's society. Hatred and deceit has become so prominent that our society has morphed into a community that is able to accept bullying an individual based off their sexuality, assume that an individual is a "terrorist" based off of where they originated from, or say that their occupation should be working on a cotton farm because of their skin color. People are not characterized by what they look like or what they are labeled as. The character they present and the love they spread is what they are truly represented by. At the end of the day, all humans are from the same species. Everyone has something in common, whether it is very obvious or not. So rather than focusing on the few things that make us different, why don't we love those differences and learn what is similar between us?

Love always,

I really like how you copied the style of how a newsletter type of message would be put out in the town of Salem. That very creative and I enjoyed the sort of sign off paragraph.
ReplyDeleteI thought the perspective you chose to take was very interesting and original. The last paragraph did a great job of connecting the history of Salem to many modern day issues.
