Metacognition Reflection
Over the course of this semester I feel that I have grown as a writer. I feel that my writing has begun to relate to broader ideas and express more influential and mature ideas. I was able to advance my skills by creating meetings with Ms. Nagi and utilizing the advice given to me by my peers.
I feel that I have drastically improved on continuously addressing my thesis statement and my argument throughout the entire essay and relating back to it. I have learned how to further analyze my evidence and how to provide effective evidence and analysis that is supportive to my argument.
I feel that I still need to improve on writing my initial thesis statement. I plan to more actively read other successful essays or writing pieces in order to get inspiration and to learn from their writing structures.
I am specifically proud of my final exam essay because I feel that it really demonstrated my growth as a writer. I felt that my real world topics and ideas from the book were very advanced and more intellectual than my past writing. I felt that it had a strong message that would apply to many individuals.
I think that if Ms. Nagi would continue to provide one-on-one opportunities for writing it would be very beneficial for students because when I had met with her in the past, I found it very helpful to simply discuss or talk through my ideas with someone and then receive feedback.

I think you've grown as a writer too! After reading several of your pieces over the course of the semester you have grown in your abilities to remain concise while addressing broader topics beyond the one you intended to discuss when beginning the assignment. Your plans for the future of your writing look like nothing but steps on the road to success. Way to think outside just your own writing, I think looking at others students successful pieces is a great idea! Keep it up cutie!
ReplyDeleteI think that your scores are really impressive! It is actually really awesome that your writing is so consistent because you have a stable base to improve off of. I'm glad that you feel confident about your final exam essay, especially since it was pretty difficult, which I think shows growth in not only your writing but growth in your writing confidence. I agree that we should have more meetings with Ms. Nagi and maybe even writing workshop days where we focus on techniques and basics and get to conference with her!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I have not personally read your writing this semester, I think you have really grown as a writer! Your scores are amazing and I think that they reflect how you have improved throughout the semester. I also agree that having one-on-one meetings with Ms. Nagi would help everyone improve their writing. I hope you are able to continue to improve your writing next semester!
