"Thin and Beautiful"

"Thin and Beautiful". An ideal image that many girls strive for and the image that society deems as most attractive. However, what is considered thin and beautiful? What weight is considered thin and what assets are considered beautiful? According the past CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch, "thin and beautiful" is limited to the individuals who fit into their smallest sized clothing. They attempted to label young girls thin or heavy based on the size clothing they wear, when in reality, a girl's body can be generalized into thin or heavy. Height, figure, and muscle all effect sizing and make every individual unique. There is not one image that may be labeled as beautiful because different features make each individual attractive in their own way. In general, society attempts to categorize women based on simplistic facets of their personality or appearance and disregard the details that make them who they are. For example, no two individuals naturally have the same exact hair colors. Yet, most are identified as brown, blond, or red, which does not acknowledge the millions of other colors that exist. It strips women of their unique qualities and forces them to feel as if they need to fit into categories. Labeling or generalizing women not only creates a misperception, but restricts their individual expression.
